The Wheel of Fortune
A year-long series on how medieval peasants cultivated wealth and beauty through the seasonal cycle.
Learn how to invoke good fortune in these chaotic times
Medieval peasants experienced profound hardship at times, just like many in our world are experiencing today.
Even in the midst of plague, famine, and war, these regular folk of olde pulled on the animist traditions of their ancestors to cultivate greater protection and abundance.
Throughout the Middle Ages, the Wheel of Fortune was a symbol of life's cyclical and fateful nature. Wise folk would pay attention to how the wheel turned and act in alignment with each season's offerings, medicine, and invitations.
It is their fortitude and magic that we pull forward and learn from in The Wheel of Fortune membership.
When you join The Wheel of Fortune, you will be offered:
A year-long private podcast series on pagan traditions related to each of the major seasonal festivals (e.g., Samhain, Yule, Imbolc and more).
Monthly writings about how to cultivate good fortune and meaning in alignment with the land where you live.
A free Vocational Guidance Tarot Reading (regularly $95) each year to help you hone in on how to create more ease in your working or creative life.
15% off the Composting Capitalism course, the Living the Seasons journal series, seasonal classes I teach, and more.
True fortune–peace, meaning, deep connection, and prosperity–is offered with each turning of the Wheel, but when we live in an automated or mechanical way, we miss out on the bounty that our ancestors knew how to cultivate.
The latest Wheel of Fortune podcast episode: Entering Samhain
In our first foray into medieval pagan practices to honor the turning of the Wheel, we explore traditions around Samhain, including the pan-European motif of The Wild Hunt, how medieval folk engaged with the power and mystery of the Night, and the Crossroads as a force that required discernment and respect.
The Wheel of Fortune is a cyclical container that will teach you how to step into an ancient, natural rhythm of endings, beginnings, and a chance at true bounty.
If you're new to A Wild New Work, welcome! I’m Megan Leatherman, and it has been my joy to create and serve through this container for nearly 10 years now. My professional journey started in the field of Human Resources and has since evolved into a working life that follows the seasons and is guided by the wisdom of the Earth.
I have always been a nerd for medieval history (5th - 6th century is my fave!), and when I began really letting myself explore that period in earnest, I realized that it is a treasure trove of resilience techniques and meaningful magic.
It’s been so fun to create The Wheel of Fortune (fka Eagle Creek), and I hope that you’ll step into the cycle with me if you long for a deeper sense of possibility and sturdiness in your life.
