"Go Big or Go Home"

On May 1st, we celebrated Beltane, an old Celtic holiday that honors the growing Fire of the Sun and the power of that Fire to transform all that it touches.

Between now and the Summer Solstice on June 21st, the Sun's transformational power will grow and grow until it reaches its apex and we shift into the darkening half of the year.

These next six weeks are the brightest pocket of the entire yearly cycle, and it is an excellent time to, as they say, "go big or go home."

While not all beings will bloom, give birth, or fruit in this window, it's a time–energetically speaking–when all of us who live by the rhythms of the Sun are invited to expand our reach and brightness as well. If there's anything in your life that has been wanting to get large and shake off the shackles of constraint, now is the time to allow it to do so.

Whether it's a creative project, a new concept of yourself, or a different way to live, Life is inviting you to allow this growth to be wild, instinctual, and beautiful.

I realize that this is easier said than done. I'm very familiar with all the psychic scaffolding that keeps us from reaching as far as the Sun does at this time, and I'm grateful for the chance to try again with every trip around the Wheel of the Year.

One thing that helps me surrender to the big energy that flows through this season is considering what it can create for my future.

Recently, I wrote about the next step toward an immense dream I have to create Village with the land and other humans in a magical place called Silver Creek Canyon. One of the things that's holding me steady in this vulnerable time of declaring the dream and then asking you to be a part of it is knowing that if I expand beyond what's comfortable at this time, I will have more in my fruit basket come Summer.

Much of what we will need to sustain us in the future, literally and soulfully, is growing and flowering at this time. If we allow our dreams to grow as much as they want to now, they become like Plum trees or Raspberry bushes that can bear more fruit later on.

I know that if I honor this next step I've been given for Silver Creek Canyon, it's much more possible that I might be blessed by and get to share the gifts of that dream in the Summer, hopefully through a finished feasibility study and next steps for those of us who are called to that land.

If I give in to the part of me that is afraid, or constantly declaring that it's not even worth trying, I will most definitely miss out on some of the juiciness and vitality that I desire in the next season. And not just that, but with less fruit this Summer, I will have less seeds to plant for the next Spring, and that soulful impoverishment could make it harder to thrive for many cycles to come.

This is absolutely a pep talk, and I hope you will take seriously the desires and dreams that are perhaps causing friction in your life by their unyielding need to grow. What would it mean to let them get big? To not keep pruning them or apologizing for them, but to make space for them in your life and adjust everything else around them instead?

All of this can happen right in the comfort of your beautiful, Taurus-season home and body-home. So perhaps instead of "go big or go home" we could say…

Go big in your home.
Go big for your Home.
Go big with your home.
Go big, then home.

I hope you will expand, expand, expand over the next six weeks, my friend. May you come to the Summer Solstice and look back in awe of how your courage grew with the Sun's light.
